Good information booklets on responsible puppy and kitten care and other topics are handed out free of charge at the clinics. 85% of animals attending the mobile clinics are canine. The remainder is mainly feline, including a small percentage of rabbits, birds and exotics. Neutering and microchipping are promoted at the mobile clinics. Microchipping is carried out at the Blue Cross at Inchicore and pets requiring neutering and other surgeries are referred through the Blue Cross schemes to private vets who generously discount their fees by one third. In most cases the level of support given by Blue Cross in partnership with private practice is equal to two-thirds of the normal amount. Significant numbers of animals benefit through Blue Cross low cost schemes – all that’s required is that the owner is genuinely needy and is first seen to at the mobile clinic so that it can be referred by a Blue Cross vet. If in any doubt as to whether this may apply to your situation or someone who may need the service, the Blue Cross office will advise you. For more information on our neutering and microchipping schemes please go to our welfare section here.
