SAOIRSE TAKES THE LEAD WITH THE IRISH BLUE CROSS
Irish actress Saoirse Ronan, a devoted animal lover, has generously taken time out from a hectic schedule to lend her support to The Irish Blue Cross to help boost their number of participants in the 2009 Flora Women’s Mini Marathon that takes place over the June bank holiday weekend. The event is for females only and although dog owners can’t take their pet along on the day, it is an excellent opportunity to show support for pets by wearing The Irish Blue Cross T-shirt and by raising much needed cash through sponsorship. All for the benefit of small animals whose owners must turn to the charity for support. Jenny Schutz, fundraiser at The Irish Blue Cross urges women who have time on their hands to sign up and obtain a sponsorship card from the charity straight away either by clicking here or by calling 01 4163032. Entrants do not have be competitive minded to take part and whether the aim is to run or walk the 10km mini marathon this can be undertaken at a minimal cost through a daily home-based exercise regime or in their neighbourhood with friends. All that’s required is enthusiasm to take part and in the process help raise awareness and funds for The Irish Blue Cross! The charity hopes to raise significant funding through participants’ sponsorship, which will greatly advance the work of its popular and ever growing small animal services for needy pet owners. Most notably, a key objective is to successfully develop services at the recently completed new small animal clinic at Inchicore that cost the charity €250,000 to construct.
