SAOIRSE AND SASSIE SUPPORT THE IRISH BLUE CROSS
Rising Star, Saoirse Ronan today pledged her support for The Irish Blue Cross new animal clinic planned for its base at Inchicore. The young actress gave generously of her time to visit the Charity with her collie dog Sassie and spoke encouragingly of its good work and how she plans to assist the organization over the coming months. Her aim is to inspire animal welfare enthusiasts to give generously towards funding the construction and fit-out of their new animal clinic. The entire costs are in the region of €450,000, but already the half way mark is within sight. “I am delighted to offer my support to The Irish Blue Cross as they care for so many needy animals. The new clinic will be a huge asset to pet owners” commented Saoirse. “When The Irish Blue Cross reunited me with my collie dog Sassie, I was overjoyed. They even microchipped her, so if she ever runs away again, she will be traceable. Their approach to responsible pet ownership is fantastic.” Jenny Schutz, Fundraiser with The Irish Blue Cross is busy planning fundraising events to help the Charity reach its goal. “We are thrilled that Saoirse has come on board, it will certainly give a huge lift to our appeal for funds. We are calling on all our existing supporters to keep giving generously and of course we need special once-off funding for this major project too”. In 2007, the ever-popular services of The Irish Blue Cross were called on to assist 12,749 small animals requiring veterinary support. The Charity runs a busy mobile clinic and referral service throughout Dublin as well as an almost nationwide low cost neutering scheme. It also vigorously promotes responsible pet ownership.
