Coolio is a ten-month-old black and white male
cat. He was going to be put down before "V" who is one of the
Blue Cross volunteers at the Blanchardstown mobile clinic gave him a loving
home. He was partly shaved when "V" took him home because he
had ring worm. "V" has since made sure that Coolio has been
vaccinated at the Blue Cross mobile at Blanchardstown. He has also undergone
a feline aids test, which proved negative and has been neutered under
the Blue Cross low cost neutering scheme at a Dublin veterinary practice.

Spike attended the Blue Cross mobile in Blanchardstown
on July 1st because his owner thought he was developing a nasty mouth
ulcer. Emma Tobin, the Blue Cross vet on duty at the clinic treated the
infection on its mouth with antibiotics and asked the owner to keep any
eye on it, advising a return visit if the infection did not go away.

Bing's owner brought him to the Blue Cross on Tuesday
July 1st as because of his sore leg. He been treated at a private veterinary
clinic for injuries sustained in a fight. He had managed to remove some
of the stitches himself. The leg was coming along nicely and Emma took
his temperature to check for an infection and cleaned the healing wound
and advised the owner to keep a close eye on Bing until he was due his
return visit to the private clinic. The owner went home pleased that nothing
too serious has arisen as a result of Bing's own reaction to the stitches.

Tina's owner brought her to the Blue Cross clinic on
Tuesday July 1st because of her sore eye and paw. Tina is an elderly German
Shepherd, sixteen years old and is a regular patient of Emma Tobin, the
Blue Cross Blanchardstown vet. On a yearly basis Tina is given her booster
vaccination at Emma's clinic. Naturally Emma and the owner are concerned
about her health because of her age, but on this occasion, it was just
a question of giving some eye ointment for the sore eye and some antibiotics
for the sore paw.

Boo was taken to the Blanchardstown clinic on Tuesday
July 1st to have his nose treated because of a rash that had broken out
and was causing him to scratch. Emma the vet on duty gave some antibiotics
to Boo. Because Boo had a temperature, he must return to the clinic in
a week¹s time for further observation and to have his vaccinations
started. Meanwhile, the owner is under strict instructions to keep him
indoors until he makes a full recovery.
Ali is a regular Blue Cross client at the Donnycarney
clinic. After a recent trip to the clinic, Ali's owner decided on having
him neutered and called The Blue Cross office about the low cost neutering
scheme. The operation took place a few days later at a referred animal
hospital on the north side of the city. Ali's owner would strongly recommend
neutering and even sees improvements for the better in Ali's personality.
Pebble's owner noticed lameness in Pebble's back leg
and took her to The Blue Cross Blanchardstown clinic one Tuesday evening.
The following day Pebble's was refereed to a local animal hospital where
luxated patella was diagnosed. A surgical operation was required to set
her right; here condition is common in JRT's and other small breed dogs.
Chloe is an exemplary patient of The Animal Hospital
and has recently had her leg bandaged because of a fracture. The Blue
Cross assists many pets each year like Chloe. Many injuries result from
road traffic accidents. Just another ten days before Chloe can have the
bandages off and she'll be as good as new.
Bijoux had a bad case of mange when she arrived
at The Blue Cross Finglas clinic even though she had not been in contact
with many other dogs or indirectly with foxes. She had a history of hair
loss and itch and once mange was diagnosed, The Blue Cross vet started
the treatment. A few weeks later and she was back to normal again. During
treatment her owner had to ensure that her bedding was kept fresh and
contact with other animals and humans was kept to a minimum.
