Ciara’s Hair Cut Challenge for The Irish Blue Cross!
Everyone at The Irish Blue Cross is extremely grateful to Ciara Hughes, as she embarks on a very unusual fundraising challenege!
Ciara is an 11 year old girl who lives in Newbridge, Co Kildare, with her cat Filamon. Ciara is a huge animal lover, and wanted to help sick and injured pets during lockdown. So she has set herself a ‘Hair Cut’ challenge, and will be cutting her locks in aid of the Irish Blue Cross! As you can see, there is quite an amount of flowing red hair!
To make sure no lock goes to waste, generous Ciara will be donating her hair to the Rapunzel Charity who make wigs for children who are going through Cancer treatment.
Ciara has set the date of St. Patrick’s Day, March 17th, to cut her hair. With there being no Parade this year she thought it would make Paddys Day 2021 a special day to remember!
Ciara has always had long hair since she was small. From her shoulders down, her hair is about 25inches. The Rapunzel Charity require 14inches but Ciara will be donating 20inches plus! Ciara reckons her hair has easily grown by about 8 inches over the past year.
You can support Ciara in her challenge by donating to her Just Giving page here.
11 year old Ciara on why she was taking on the challenge; “As a little girl l know how much girls love their hair. Once l found out that l could help children by donating my hair, l wanted to do it. l also love all animals so much, so this is a great way to help pets that could be sick and their owners might not be able to afford the medicine. I am happy knowing that my fundraiser is going to help pets & their families, as I would be lost without my cat, Filamon.”
Thank you so much Ciara, and we look forward to seeing the ‘after’ photos!
Update: Ciara has completed her challenge!
Ciara completed the challenge on St. Patrick’s day, and has so far raised over €1,100 for The Irish Blue Cross! Thank you so much Ciara!
