Vet Úna Skydives for The Irish Blue Cross!
Not satisfied with treating thousands of sick an injured pets each year, our very own Super Vet, Úna, will be taking on a Skydive challenge to help raise vital funds for The Irish Blue Cross.
Covid-19 has had a huge impact on our fundraising income, with many of our flag ship events cancelled due to the global pandemic.
To help, Vet Úna and her team have taken drastic action, and will be taking the plunge from 13,000 feet on Saturday the 19th of September. You can support them by clicking here.
Vet Úna said “At first when John asked me would I do a parachute jump I thought he was joking – but now I’m very excited for it! Our amazing team of receptionists, nurses, and vets have worked tirelessly throughout Covid-19, seeing as many sick pets as is humanly possible. I’m taking on this challenge for them, and to raise some vital funds so we can keep our services operating. Any small donation really helps.”
Joining her is an 80 year young John Costelloe, who is one of the voluntary directors that sit on the Irish Blue Cross board. John has a long history with The Irish Blue Cross;
“I first attended a Mobile Blue Cross clinic as a veterinary student ‘seeing practice’ in 1959. When I qualified as a Vet in 1964 I became the vet for the Cabra West and the Donnycarney Mobile Clinics and also did all the referred surgery from the Blue Cross for the following 40 years. When I retired from general practice in 2008 I volunteered to get the newly built Irish Blue Cross Hospital at Inchicore up and running. For the last 55 years the Blue Cross and animal welfare has been my life.
BUT there is a cost. While all the directors of the Blue Cross, myself included, give their expertise and time free of charge , we need a professional team of vet surgeons, vet nurses, admin staff, medicines, equipment etc. Like all charities we need your help.
My son Simon, another animal lover, gave me a special 80th birthday present — A Parachute Jump!! To raise some urgently needed funds to help the brilliant work done by the Irish Blue Cross. I will be joined on the JUMP by Simon and Vet Úna, our head of veterinary services. Her team of vets and nurses has kept the Irish Blue Cross operational through the present Covid-19 pandemic . With YOUR help we can keep it open. Please donate what you can by clicking here“
