Animal Care Assistant
We are seeking an Animal Care Assistant to join our dedicated team at our Inchicore Clinic in Dublin 8, on a permanent basis (30-35 hours).
This is a hands-on, clinically focused support role within a busy veterinary environment. You will work closely with the veterinary and nursing teams to support patient care, maintain high standards of hygiene and organisation, and help the clinic run smoothly day to day.
You will be involved in animal handling, inpatient care, infection control, and general clinical support duties. You will also provide reception cover when required, helping maintain front-of-house operations, particularly during periods of leave or absence or when additional cover is needed.
This role is suited to someone who is comfortable working flexibly across different areas of the clinic and who takes pride in their work. It also offers the opportunity to build hands-on experience within a busy clinical environment.
Key Duties
- Assist with the safe handling and restraint of animals for procedures and examinations, including blood sampling
- Support the veterinary and nursing teams with inpatient care, including feeding, walking, cleaning, and general husbandry
- Assist with monitoring surgical patients and inpatients throughout the day
- Maintain excellent standards of cleanliness and infection control across clinical areas, including kennels, theatre, and prep rooms
- Clean, sterilise and prepare surgical instruments and equipment
- Manage laundry, including bedding and surgical drapes
- Restock clinical areas and assist with deliveries and stock control
- Provide reception cover as required, including answering calls, booking appointments, maintaining records and processing payments
- Work collaboratively with colleagues across clinical, reception and administrative teams to support the overall running of the clinic
About You
- You have experience working with animals and are confident handling and restraining animals safely in a clinical or similar environment.
- You are practical, reliable and hard-working, with strong attention to detail and a consistent approach to completing tasks.
- You are comfortable working in a fast-paced environment and able to adapt to changing priorities throughout the day.
- You are willing to support reception when required and are confident communicating with clients in a professional and compassionate manner.
- You work well as part of a team, follow direction effectively, and take pride in maintaining a clean, safe and well-organised environment.
- You are motivated to learn, including developing your understanding of veterinary procedures and terminology.

Volunteer Mobile Clinic Drivers Wanted
We are currently recruiting for Volunteer Mobile Clinic Drivers to join our amazing Volunteer team.
You must have a current C1 drivers licence, and be able to commit to one evening per week.
Overview of the Volunteer Mobile Veterinary Unit Driver
Our Volunteer Drivers drive The Irish Blue Cross Mobile Veterinary Units to locations within Dublin from our central base at Inchicore.
The clinics commence at 6.00pm and operate until 8.30pm approximately. The Mobile Veterinary Unit will need to be picked up from the central base approximately an hour ahead of the clinic start time to allow time to reach the destination, taking traffic and other variables into consideration.
On arrival, the driver will assist in a general capacity with the queue of clients and when the clinic is finished, he/she will drive the vehicle back to base and lock it up.
Locations of Evening Service
There are ten regular weekly evening-time locations, Monday to Friday, as follows:
Monday – Cabra and Tallaght
Tuesday – Crumlin and Blanchardstown
Wednesday – Ballyfermot, Ballybrack and Smithfield
Thursday – Finglas and Walkinstown
Friday – Whitehall

The Role
We are seeking a Receptionist to join our Inchicore Clinic on a permanent basis (full-time or part-time).
A well-run reception is central to patient care, clinic efficiency and the overall experience of our clients. As the first point of contact for pet owners, you will play an important role in ensuring the clinic runs smoothly each day.
This is a busy, hands-on role in a fast-paced clinical environment. You will support clients who may be anxious or distressed, manage appointments accurately, and help maintain clear communication between reception and the clinical team.
Working closely with our Reception Lead, you will help ensure high standards of organisation, professionalism and client care are maintained at all times.
Key Responsibilities
- Answer calls, manage voicemails and respond to emails in a timely and professional manner
- Welcome clients, confirm eligibility and check them into the system
- Provide clear, non-clinical information and refer clinical queries to the veterinary team
- Book and administer appointments accurately in line with clinic protocols
- Review the appointment diary regularly to ensure it reflects the agreed staff rota and update slots accordingly
- Add or amend emergency appointment slots in line with clinic guidelines
- Manage medication requests and update the nurses’ medication list as required
- Maintain accurate records and handle payments in line with procedures
- Support a clean, organised and professional reception environment
- Contribute to a calm and respectful atmosphere, particularly during busy periods
About You
You have experience working in a busy reception or customer-facing environment and are confident managing a high volume of calls and appointments.
You are organised, accurate and dependable, with strong attention to detail. You remain calm under pressure and are able to support clients in a professional and compassionate manner, including during emotionally sensitive situations.
You are comfortable following clear direction, knowing when to escalate issues appropriately, and working as part of a team to maintain high standards.
Above all, you value professionalism, fairness and kindness, and understand the important role reception plays in supporting both patient care and client experience.

The Role
We are seeking a Casual Veterinary Nurse to join our dedicated team at our Inchicore Clinic.
This “ad-hoc” role is ideal for an experienced and motivated RVN who enjoys working in a fast-paced, high-volume clinical environment and wants to contribute to a meaningful charitable service. Working closely with our Head Veterinary Nurse and veterinary team, you will play a key role in ensuring as many pets as possible receive the care they need, by providing cover for periods such as annual leave or sickness.
You will deliver excellent nursing care across a wide range of clinical duties, while supporting smooth clinic operations and providing compassionate support to our clients and their pets.
Key Duties
- Clinical nursing duties including microchipping, dentals, wound care, and maintaining a clean, safe working environment.
- Nurse clinics include the admission, discharge and post-operative checks of surgical patients and routine checks, such as weight or blood testing, for medical patients.
- Surgical nursing duties including patient admission, pre-anaesthetic checks, blood sampling, cannula placement, drug preparation and administration, anaesthesia monitoring, and recovery care.
- In-patient care including patient monitoring, fluid therapy, and medication administration.
- Ensure excellent hygiene and cleanliness standards throughout the clinic
Maintain accurate, compliant patient and case records and provide clear handovers to colleagues. - Triage and assist with emergency walk-in cases as required.
- Provide professional, courteous client care and clear communication with clients and colleagues.
- Support stock control, equipment care, and clinic upkeep.
- Assist with evening and Saturday lock-up procedures when required.
- Promote and implement the charity’s policies and standards in all aspects of work.
