Pets like Trudy urgently need your help.
Please support the pets who depend on us this Christmas.
This is Trudy, a tiny Jack Russell with a heart as big as her will to survive. This little dog’s life was hanging by a thread, but kindness like yours made the difference between life and death!
When she was brought to our Inchicore clinic, Trudy hadn’t eaten in three days. She was weak, vomiting, losing weight rapidly, and dangerously dehydrated. Our veterinary team feared she had diabetes and possibly kidney disease. Without urgent and intensive care, Trudy’s life was in serious danger.
(L:R) Trudy with her owner, being examined during a check up with Vet Rocio, having a blood sample taken from her ear (glucose test) and looking much happier.
Over the following weeks, Trudy received:
- Emergency hospitalisation with fluids and medication to stop her vomiting
- Multiple blood tests to monitor her condition and identify the right treatment
- Twice-daily insulin therapy to control her diabetes
- Intensive monitoring and care from our nursing team – including gentle feeding, and lots of TLC.
There were moments when we weren’t sure she would make it. But our team never gave up — and because people like you believed in our work, Trudy got her second chance.
Today, she’s back home, barking happily, full of life, and wrapped in the love of her family.
Trudy is here because of you.
Every single day, animals just like Trudy arrive at our clinics needing urgent care. Their owners love them dearly but are simply unable to afford the veterinary treatment they so desperately need. With Christmas approaching, these calls for help are growing — and we are turning to you once more.
Whatever you can give, your support means everything — to the animals, their families, and to all of us at The Irish Blue Cross.
